Lara Croft came into my life one summer by way of a friend of mine who worked at a video store. He'd rented a PlayStation for the week, and the first Tomb Raider game was one of the games he brought home. We became addicted to the game very quickly, spending many late nights cursing at the television.

The following Halloween, I attempted to put Lara in the flesh for the first time. It was a bit of an awkward situation: few people knew who I was trying to be, and those who did, could remember nothing more than "that video game chic"! It seemed, however, that I was able to pull off Lara's appearance convincingly enough.

Since then, I've had some other opportunities to don the Lara gear and stomp about in her boots. It's been very fun to do, and makes people perk up and pay attention if they aren't expecting it. And why not? She's smart, she's strong, and above all, she's an independent, no-BS woman who can handle weapons better than a lot of men!

When
I'm not playing Lara, I can usually be found doing anything that allows me to
pretend I'm not myself for a little while. I'll take about any opportunity to
dress up and make an event of it if I can. I also enjoy writing, modeling,
sewing, computers, and dancing.
